Henri-Abraham
My style is definitely my own. I did the cut of my shirt myself to make it more sexy. My fashion is inspired by the sun, which represents warmth, light and beauty. If the sun can shine every day, so can all of us.
Check out Henri-Abraham's style blog, Into the World.

Allix
Allix: My style is inspired by my ancestry and ancient cultures. I like to wear a lot of handcrafted jewellery from West Africa -- pieces that have a story.
TorontoVerve: What's the best advice that you've received?
Allix: It's OK to counter public opinion because often public opinion isn't based on truth. For instance we hear that we should respect all elders, but there should be an understanding that not all elders should be respected. Just because someone is older than you doesn't mean that they merit respect. There's the spirit of the law and there's the letter of the law. We should always pay attention to the spirit of the law.

Davide
You must be brave in life. I came here from Italy to find a job. It was always a dream to come to Canada. I applied and thought I'd never be accepted, but I was. And I found a job in my field. Things always appear difficult than what they really are. Be brave and try to make your dreams happen.

Aysha
Aysha: I don't like wearing things that touch me. I like loose clothing. My mom is Vivian Shyu, the fashion designer here in Yorkville -- so I wear a lot of her clothing. I'm big on organic textures and fibers like silk and linen. Stuff that are easy to move in and look good.
TorontoVerve: What's the best advice that you've received?
Aysha: Dr. Seuss said, "Those who mind don't matter, but those who matter don't mind." You shouldn't care what people think about you and the people who matter in life won't care if you screw up.

Lois
Lois: I came up with a word the other day that describes my style. It's a cross between bohemian and sophisticated: "sophistobohemicat." It's a little joke to myself. I'm always playing.
TorontoVerve: What's the best advice that you've received?
Lois: My friend Elaine said, "See it coming. Give in early." Embrace life. Don't fight it. Figure out what you're going to do with it -- rather than rebel against it.
Lois is an interior designer. Check out her blog Divas At Home. "I design all my own furniture, pillows and accessories. I design for beautiful women. My clients seem to all be beautiful and they seem to have a husband and full life, but they need a nice setting. A sophisticated and glamourous setting for a beautiful woman. That's my style."

Naro
Naro is a fashion model and is no stranger to TorontoVerve. I've captured her impeccable street style three times before. Yesterday, she walked passed me on Bloor Street West and I called out to her. She turned, smiled and responded: "That's not my name."
Aw, geez. I felt so stupid. Turns out that I've mistaken Naro for another fashion model who's also appeared on the blog several times. Seeing my embarrassment, she gracefully let me off the hook. "That's OK," she said. "It happens all the time. She's my doppelgänger." Wow! She wasn't kidding. With shades on, their resemblance is startling.
After a few quick snapshots, I asked her to share the best advice she's ever received: "My surrogate mother once told me don't make assumptions. Communication is key. You never really know what the situation may be unless you ask. It's helped me grow as a person and have better relationships."

Mary-Elizabeth
Mary-Elizabeth: I'm a jeans and t-shirt kind of gal, but I love my vintage and pin-up fashion from the 40's and 50's -- they hug my curves best. Dita Von Teese is a huge inspiration. She's incredibly strong and confident about her sexuality. She embraces everything about herself and I really respect that.
Mary-Elizabeth Willcott is an actor and will be appearing in the upcoming horror feature, Bed of the Dead.

Jose
Jose: I am a fashion designer from Mexico. I came to Canada to study English and Business Administration. I have three sisters so I designed many dresses for them for weddings and parties. My dream is to start my own fashion business here.

Peter & Leopold
Peter: My style is confidence-inspired. I'm not afraid to mix old designs with the new.
TorontoVerve: Tell us about Leopold.
Peter: He does what he wants to do. He doesn't give a shit about anybody else.

Charlene
The best advice I've been given is to not take advice. Always go with your hunch. A woman's intuition is strong and sometimes if you take people's advice, they can steer you in the wrong path. Just follow your own instincts.

Tamen
Tamen: I like to be feminine, strong and natural. It's important to always emphasize natural beauty and not cover it up. Natural women -- women of the Earth inspire me. Especially women of the 60's. Hippies who were all about love and peace. They didn't judge the direction that love went. It was just universal and that's what I like to embody.
TorontoVerve: What's the best advice you've received in life?
Tamen: Live for pleasure. Life is meaningless, but if you live for pleasure, that's essential.

Krystyna
Krystyna: I like to dress up like classic Hollywood when I go out. Audrey Hepburn inspires me. She's a timeless beauty.
TorontoVerve: What's the best advice you've received in life?
Krystyna: I can't remember the article where I read it from, but it said, "Collect experiences not things." I love to travel, go on adventures and explore. I don't focus on acquiring material things anymore.

Emma
Emma: My mom inspires my fashion. I used to wear her clothes a lot growing up. She always looks well put together no matter what she wears. You'll never catch her in sweats.
TorontoVerve: Does that mean we'll never catch you in sweats?
Emma: That's right (laughs).

Holly
Holly: My style is eclectic, comfortable and colourful. Gwyneth Paltrow inspires me. We're similar in age and life-stage. I find that she's always searching for the best in everything. She's great at putting together vibrant colours that work well with blonds and fair skin tones.
TorontoVerve: What's the best advice you've received in life?
Holly: A good friend told me to always strive for my hearts desire. The world is your oyster -- just go out there and attack it. That's helped me gain the confidence I need to pursue my daily inspirations and ideas. I just created a pop-up shop in Muskoka and I would have never done that if I didn't have the confidence.
