Sunday with Ray

I noticed Ray sitting alone on a street bench smoking a cigarette. His distinct features and quiet manner compelled me to ask for his picture. He was very pleasant and accommodating -- fortunately for me. These photos are among my favourites.

What's in Melodie's Suitcase?

Dorothy and I recently visited the "Love and Rummage" trunk show at the Work Room in Queen Street West. Vendors offered a myriad of handcrafted goods and vintage wares out of a suitcase.

We were particularly curious about what was in Melodie's suitcase, which housed a host of original crafts, including handbound notebooks, key chains and gift tags. Melodie's artistic flare drew so much attention that I had to quickly maneuver to capture these photos.

Here, Melodie is sporting one of Rosalyn's beautifully crocheted copper necklaces.

Sheldon and Sebastien at Bay & Bloor

It wasn't the first time that Sheldon and Sebastien were asked to pose for a blog. A Montreal website beat us to it. Interestingly, we missed them going into a cab on Queen Street in the afternoon, but as fate would have it, we caught them at Bay & Bloor at night. Small world.

Happy Valentines Day!

Ian and Ami are members of the local band "Ostrich Tuning." We recently caught their performance at Jet Fuel and couldn't help admire their charming retro flavour. Ami also sells vintage clothing with her friend Crystal online. Their website is aptly titled "Heroine Vintage".

Eric's Work of Art

Eric's work of art, entitled "Remnants", is currently being displayed at Jet Fuel. The piece is a collage of his childhood possessions installed chronologically on the wall. Some of the objects suspended above are dolls, erector sets, racy magazines and a Commodore 64. It's an explosion of nostalgic geekdom. The display will be exhibited throughout the entire month at the popular Cabbagetown café.

Murali's Mobile Office...

We waited a long time for Murali to finish his urgent phone call, but it was worth it. He looked sharp in his striking urban ensemble.

Styled by Sonia

Sonia not only designed Murali's cool look, she's designing her own line of organic scarves. We'll be looking out for it.
