Patrick & Arta: Shopping on Ossington

Patrick: "I would describe my style as throwback chic. My grandfather is a big influence. He just knows how to dress -- a lot of earth tones and very classic."

Arta: "My style is a mix of masculine and feminine. I love androgyne. I think it's the complete gender. I don't believe in just seeing masculine or feminine."

I captured Arta's street style 2 years ago. In addition to working for Lifestyler and Vervegirl magazine, she is a cast member of the popular web series The Avenue -- now beginning its second season.

Jessica: Joplin Boho-Chic

"My style is very seasonal and bohemian. Janis Joplin is a huge influence too. Everything she wore was flowy with jewellery."

Spiro Mandylor: "James Bond Villain"

"My style is contemporary with a little bit of James Bond villain.  I think it's imposing -- a little threatening at times.  I don't think overbearing, but I think other people may perceive it that way. I'm 240 pounds and 6'2 -- no matter what I wear, it's going to have some kind of effect on people."

Spiro has a popular style blog called It's All Style to Me.

"I cover a lot of fashion news -- big events, new collections and a little bit of street style. Mainly men's wear, but women's style as well."

When I asked how Toronto men's fashion stacked up to other cities around the world, Spiro was optimistic: "Toronto fashion is quite good -- especially in the downtown core. I think we stand on good footing when compared to cities such as New York, London, Milan and Paris. We got some pretty stylish guys here. More so than in the past 5 years. They're really upping their game big time."

Leah: Stumbling in a Style of Her Own

I previously captured Leah's vintage vampy prep style last winter. Nearly a year later, as I rode my bike down Ossington again, her charming paisley silk coat immediately caught my attention in the fall backdrop.

"Last time I said that my style is maturing as I'm becoming a young woman and I would definitely say that I'm still stumbling trying to find a style of my own. I don't pay attention to what's on trend. I like certain colours and fabrics and this beautiful coat is 100% silk and was only 12 bucks. My inspiration is Rooney Mara from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo -- I rocked her look with leather and short bangs for a little while."

Tonya: "Boho to Vintage"

"My style is erratic. Depending on how I feel, I can be an eccentric and moody dresser -- anywhere from boho to vintage. My style icon is celebrity fashion stylist June Ambrose. She's just herself. Things that she normally puts together you would never see anyone else put together and if they did, they probably wouldn't look as good."

Caitlin: "Urban Vintage"

"My style is a mix of urban and vintage. Different cultures inspire me. I'm digging the African culture right now - the molly beads and all the beautiful fabrics and prints and East Indian golds."

Shane: Modern James Dean

"My style is modern yet classic silhouettes -- with updated fashionable trend colours, sleek, simple and chic. James Dean is a huge influence because I think he was way ahead of his time as far as style went.  He was edgy and classic with his simple white-T and plain jeans."

Melissa: 60's Mod À La Pink Tartan

Melissa's sharp retro look quickly caught our attention at Pink Tartan.

"Right now my style is very 60's mod-inspired. I love Twiggy so that's where my hair is coming from. I keep cutting it shorter and shorter. My real inspiration is Kimberly Newport-Mimran, our founder and  designer at Pink Tartan. She's really done a great job of taking the 60's look and making it modern for women today."
