Rebecca

Audrey Hepburn has always been a great style icon for me. Her elegance, her grace, her class and her beauty have been inspirational. I've always looked up to her my entire life.

Carlon

Carlon: My style is sophisticated and classy. I grew up in the church so I've always been into business suits. I dress according to my mood. Do I want to look like Spring or do I want to look like Fall? Style is a self-expression. It's an art. I always want to innovate my style.

TorontoVerve: What's the best advice that you've received?

Carlon: Find yourself and be that. When you find your true self, it's frightening at first because you don't believe it's you. We tend to not believe our true selves. When you find whoever you are, aspire to be that person. Life's a journey and when you put in the work, you'll be a phenomenal person.

Davide

You must be brave in life. I came here from Italy to find a job. It was always a dream to come to Canada. I applied and thought I'd never be accepted, but I was. And I found a job in my field. Things always appear difficult than what they really are. Be brave and try to make your dreams happen.

Maria

I'm wearing a 1960's vintage dress that reminds me of my paternal grandmother. She lent me one of her dresses; which was very similar except it was green. I was 16 years old and I was going to five New Years Eve parties. I remember wearing her dress and feeling very sophisticated and ready to be an adult woman. [Laugh] I have to laugh at that. I always had fond memories of that dress because it really made me feel confident.

I previously captured Maria's cool street style just a few weeks ago.

Kamilah

Kamilah: My mom influenced my style. I used to always steal all her wardrobe from the 70's and 80's. Those eras were fearless and unapologetic. I'm a disco singer so it only makes sense to me. Everything I have is thrifted.

TorontoVerve: What's the best advice that you've received?

Kamilah: "This shall pass." Whenever I'm in a s#@t situation, I remember it's going to pass. It's not forever.

Aysha

Aysha: I don't like wearing things that touch me. I like loose clothing. My mom is Vivian Shyu, the fashion designer here in Yorkville -- so I wear a lot of her clothing. I'm big on organic textures and fibers like silk and linen. Stuff that are easy to move in and look good.

TorontoVerve: What's the best advice that you've received?

Aysha: Dr. Seuss said, "Those who mind don't matter, but those who matter don't mind." You shouldn't care what people think about you and the people who matter in life won't care if you screw up.

Josi

When I'm walking the streets, I often see the people whom I've previously photographed for the blog. It's rare when I don't (just yesterday, I saw three people in Yorkville within a span of five minutes). Toronto is such a small city. On this day, I noticed Josi's elegant vintage dress before I noticed Josi. I first captured her street style just a few weeks ago.

Josi is an artist and studies at OCAD. "I'm really interested in objects and how they contain history. Specifically, how humans interact with objects or human/object relationships. That inserts itself into my artwork -- moving through the material world, wondering what stories objects contain."

Check out Josi's cool creations on her website.

Heather

Heather: I just had triplets so this is the first time I've dressed up in a while. I'm wearing a retro dress. I like that whole 1950's bombshell kinda look.

TorontoVerve: What's the best advice that you've received?

Heather: My mom told me to treat people the way that you want to be treated. It's important in every day life to be an example of what you want to see in the world because there's so much sadness right now.

Lois

Lois: I came up with a word the other day that describes my style. It's a cross between bohemian and sophisticated: "sophistobohemicat." It's a little joke to myself. I'm always playing.

TorontoVerve: What's the best advice that you've received?

Lois: My friend Elaine said, "See it coming. Give in early." Embrace life. Don't fight it. Figure out what you're going to do with it -- rather than rebel against it.

Lois is an interior designer. Check out her blog Divas At Home. "I design all my own furniture, pillows and accessories. I design for beautiful women. My clients seem to all be beautiful and they seem to have a husband and full life, but they need a nice setting. A sophisticated and glamourous setting for a beautiful woman. That's my style."

Thomas

I've learned from my partner to always have a clean crisp haircut and wear tight clothing in all the right places. That's what led to me getting married today.

Liza

Liza: My style is classic/conservative with a little kick.

TorontoVerve: What's the best advice that you've received?

Liza: It's so cliché, but I think that the 'never settle' thing is really applicable for me -- especially right now in my person life. Onward and upward.

Romina

I'm wearing this punk glam outfit because I'm a street performer. My partner moves me in different positions like I'm a living doll. I'm influenced by singer/songwriter Amanda Palmer from New York. She has this modern yet anachronistic clown look.

Maria

When I was a teenager, my grandmother saw me leaving the house wearing a halter top and a mini skirt. She told me, "You know -- you either show your legs or your cleavage. Never both at the same time. Men only want what they can't see." Of course, I went out dressed the way I was, but I never made that mistake again. There's no need to try so hard.

Maria is a visual artist. Check out her eclectic creations on her website.

Neely

I think it's important to actively go after what you want. Don't just say you want it and do nothing to achieve it. I stress less in life about the things that I want -- like a house, a boyfriend or a job. If I'm actively moving towards my goals, I don't have to worry about it.

Hayley

Hayley: "Today I have a retro Brady Bunch look. I love their style."

TV: "What's your favourite moral lesson from the show?"

Hayley: "My favourite episode is when Peter Brady's voice is going through a certain change and they sing this musical number about going through change. The lesson was let change come when it comes."
