"Summah, Summah, Summahtime": Annemarie with Lakota

Remember that Will Smith summer anthem?  If not, you're probably less than half my age...ahem.

Yeesss!  It's the first day of summer.  Let the wild colourful street fashion begin!  But first, I'm going to chill out at Bellwoods Trinity Park with a cool paperback -- just like Annemarie with her adorable Lakota.

Sisters Are Doing it for Themselves: The Factory Collective Hits Cabbagetown

We attended the Factory Collective Vintage Pop-Up Sale when it first launched in Queen Street West. This past Saturday, the popular sale popped up at the famous Cobourg in Cabbagetown and naturally we dropped by to peruse vintage fashion and partake of their delectable brunch.

On the menu was Walnut & Cranberry Bread French Toast with strawberry, apricot and black cherry compote, and watermelon salad on the side.  In addition, they served Poached Organic Eggs on Wilted Spinach & Feta Puff Pastry (also coupled with the watermelon salad).

Dorothy and I were amazed to learn that the extraordinary cuisine was prepared by The Collective themselves (Crystal Hutcheson, Ami Spears, Christine Atkinson & Lizzie Windsor) -- each for the ridiculously low price of $10.

While we savoured our meal, new and loyal clients poured in consistently and it's no wonder -- their hospitality is genuine and their vintage treasures are eclectic and elegant.

If you missed this pop-up sale, don't worry -- there'll be another one this summer.  For details, be sure to check out The Factory Collective facebook page.

Annex After Dark, Part 1: Jasmine & Graham

Some of the influences of goth originate from the punk rock scene, vampire lore and burlesque fashion. Indeed, it's one of the most creative and personal styles around, which means that it's unlikely you will find it at your local mall.

Jasmine purchased her shirt at D-Tox, skirt at Borderline and fluffies at Trivium.

Graham purchased his pants at Borderline and boots at Hells Belles.

Meeting Miss Sudan Canada: Suraya Issa

I was fortunate to run into Miss Sudan Canada, Suraya Issa, as she was on her way to the U of T library.

Suraya has her Masters in African Politics and holds an Honour's Degree in Political Science and Minor in International Studies.  In addition, she founded the Centre of Women's Advancement in Sudan and is an accomplished writer.

Hmm, with all her great achievements, how did she ever find time to win the Miss Sudan Canada crown?  Incredible.

Toronto Gone to the Dogs: Woofstock 2011

This weekend, it was a doggie love-fest as the 9th annual Woofstock hit St.Lawrence Market.

Every year, over 300,000 dog owners congregate to look for deals on accessories, get training tips and photograph show dogs.

Today, Dorothy and I couldn't resist spending a king's ransom on Boston, Bosley and Bridget so they can sachet in style at the park.  What can I say -- we're proud parents.

And here are some other proud parents who attended the fun event:
