Laural

Laural: "I would describe my style as summertime metal. I just got my haircut today, and to get inspiration for it, I googled '1980's metal hair Slayer fans' (laughs)."

TorontoVerve: "So what was the inspiration for your tattoos?"

Laural: "She (pointing to the tattoo on her left leg) is the guardian of my unconscious. She's like a dragon and just like dragons, she protects treasure, and the treasure that she protects is the depths of my vulnerability."

TorontoVerve: "And what do you need protection from?"

Laural: "Myself, probably (laughs)."

Laural is an astrologer who does readings for self-development and empowerment. Follow her on instagram: @Uranical_Astrology.

Luis

Luis: I think patterns are the best colours -- something gay to brighten up the day. I'm inspired by designer Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons. She's always inventive. She can make something ugly look beautiful.

TorontoVerve: What's your favourite memory of Summer?

Luis: The nude beach on Toronto Island. It's the best place to be in the city.

Chason's Crafty Project

"My style is kinda eclectic. Sometimes I feel really plain and I'll just wear a black shirt and pants. Today I'm wearing just a piece of fabric that I folded and wrapped around my waist. It's kinda kitschy. I get inspiration from the street. I'll walk around and see something in a window and say 'that's cool. I'll go crotchet that.'"

Check out a few of Chason's favourite things on her Tumblr blog, Crafty Chas' Project. "It's mostly crotchet things that I've made."

Mariko: "90's Punk Tribal"

"My style today is sorta 90's punk tribal. My inspiration is Japanese street style and pilgrims. It's a weird combination. Japanese street style puts anything together and it kinda works, and I really enjoy the classicness of what pilgrims wear."

Mariko is no stranger to TorontoVerve. I first captured her street style 3 years ago and she prominently appears in our banner above.

Check out all of Mariko's stylings on her website here.

Ania & Julia: Mother & Daughter

Ania: "My style is effortlessly gorgeous."

Julia: "My style is urban chic with a little bit of funk and class. My mom inspires me because she's ahead of the trends and her style is unique."

Lianne

"My grandmother's love for 1920's Shanghai fashion is sometimes a place of inspiration for me -- but not today. She had very refined tastes."

I previously shot Lianne's street style last summer.

A Banner Day for TorontoVerve!

I'm so excited to debut our latest banner, featuring some of the most fashionable people I had the pleasure photographing over the past few years, each of them possessing their own unique and incredible street style.

For an hour, we took over the closed streetcar tracks on Spadina Avenue and the bustling streets of Kensington Market.  Crowds started forming to watch our guerrilla photo-shoot, which reaffirmed that I assembled the perfect cast for this ambitious project.

Here are just a few of the stunning photographs from the shoot.  To view the entire photo gallery, check out TorontoVerve's Facebook Page here.

A BIG thank you to the following talented and fashionable people:

"The word that best describes me is Dapper."

"Androgynous"

"Own It"

"Two-Spirited"

"Maverick"

"Leading Lady"

"Sultry"

"Presence"

Kristiann: Sunny in Chinatown

Kristiann's street style first appeared on TorontoVerve just last month, but we couldn't resist photographing her again in her colourful Spring floral coat.

Myron in Chinatown

If Myron looks familiar that's because he made a grand appearance on TorontoVerve before.  Apparently style follows him wherever he goes.
